The Toronto Police Service has made arrests in the matter of a recent slashing in a subway station earlier this week. Three teenagers alleged to have slashed a woman with a knife are now also accused of assaulting a police officer in a separate incident.

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, at about 6:30 p.m., the woman was involved in a verbal dispute with three people when a male suspect spat in her face and pushed her followed by a second male who then allegedly slashed her face with a knife.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. The Toronto Police Service issued a news release and images of the suspects following the incident.

The next day, as a police officer investigated a separate suspicious incident near Long Branch Avenue and Lake Promenade, an altercation with three suspects took place and one suspect swung a machete at a police officer and then fled. A footchase took place and the suspects hid. With the assistance of the Service’s Police Dog Services unit all suspects were soon arrested.

Three young persons, a 16-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were arrested and they face multiple charges including assault with a weapon, assault a police officer while carrying a weapon, and other weapons charges. The officer sustained minor physical injuries. For full charges please see our news release here.

The Young Persons cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
