Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada holds AGM and election

Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) Annual General Meeting and Election was held on Sunday, September 25 at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel Ballroom in Richmond Hill. The meeting was presided over by the past committee president of the organization, HM Iqbal. The general meeting started with a welcome speech by the former director of the committee, Admin Mohammed Hasan. In his welcome speech, he informed everyone about the agenda of the meeting.

After the official start of the meeting, past committee president, HM Iqbal gave a speech about the past activities, income and expenditures, and success of the chamber.

Then, CIBC Bank Senior Officer, Uday Kulkarni was announced as Election Commissioner. Uday Kulkarni started the election process by giving a short speech. He said that Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada is being managed in the same way as the chambers of different countries are being managed. After the election process, Uday Kulkarni announced the names of 10 elected directors for the years 2022-2024. They are HM Iqbal, Anwar Rashid, Alamgir Rahman, Iqbal Roshd, AK Gulam Kibria, Mohammed Hasan, Shahidul Islam Mintu, Iqbal Hamid Quraishi Adnan, Tapan Syed, and Masood Ahmed. The newly elected directors met in an impromptu meeting and announced the names of HM Iqbal as President, Anwar Rashid and Iqbal Roshd as Vice-Presidents, AK Gulam Kibria as Director of Finance, Mohammed Hasan as Director Admin. Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Chief Petron of the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada, recited the oath to the newly elected committee members. High Commissioner Dr. Khalilur Rahman said: “This chamber will work for the development of Bangladesh-Canada business relations in the future as in the past. All my cooperation will be with Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada.” Bangladesh Consul General of Toronto, Lutfar Rahman was also present.

In the second part, there was an impeccable performance by Toronto’s talented musician, Amit Shubhra Roy.

Finally, the newly elected president, HM Iqbal announced the end of the meeting with a vote of thanks. Everyone was then treated to dinner.
