Bangladesh got back 50 million dollars out of 200 million USD loan given to Sri Lanka. The country gave this money today amid various uncertainties. Another $50 million is due to be returned on August 30. And the country returns the entire loan interest on time.
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and executive director Majbaul Haque told Samakal this information. He said, “In view of the country’s application, the time was extended several times earlier. Now they are expected to return the remaining $150 million in due course.
Bangladesh has loaned the country $200 million in four installments during September-October 2021 under the currency swap system. The one-year term loan expired in September last year. After that, the time was extended for three months. Against the loan, Bangladesh is getting one and a half percent interest plus the London Interbank Offer Rate or Libor.
