Bangladesh-India travel getting easier

Bangladesh and India have agreed to implement policies under the Revised Travel Arrangements (2018) on tourist, student and business visas. Alongside, both countries have agreed to make flexible the visa procedure, entry and exit rules.

The two countries agreed to the decision in the consular dialogue held in Dhaka on Monday (July 25).

In the dialogue, the two sides discussed in detail procedures to strengthen coordination and cooperation on consular issues. This also included the finalization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the extradition of each other’s detained citizens and the process of expeditious release of detained fishermen.

Both sides also welcomed closer cooperation between law enforcement agencies in countering terrorism, cross-border crime and enhancing mutual legal assistance. Both sides also reiterated their commitment to continue working on citizen-centric consular operations.

Besides, considering the unique friendship and special bond existing between the two countries, especially on this 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, they agreed to strengthen bilateral relations through more facilitated exchanges.

The next Consular Dialogue will be held in New Delhi.
