Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair announced on September 17 that a UK-led partnership would pay 33 million Canadian dollars ($24.4 million) to supply air defense equipment to Ukraine.
The partnership, established in June to defend Ukraine against Russian missile and drone attacks, was established with several countries including Denmark, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States. According to the press release, the alliance is supplying Ukraine with hundreds of short- and medium-range air defense missiles and related systems.
It is being provided as part of the 500 million Canadian dollars ($369 million) in funding allocated by Canada’s prime minister in June for military aid to Ukraine.
Canada and the United Kingdom have always stood by Ukraine in defending itself against Russia’s illegal and unjustified aggression. Canada admires the courage and strength of the Ukrainians. It also said that it will continue to support them with the military support they need to fight and win.
