Three youths have been arrested by the police in Gujarat, India, for growing and selling cannabis in flats using the green house method. Not only that, 96 cannabis plants were also recovered from the flat.
According to Indian media sources, the police came to know from secret sources yesterday that cannabis was being cultivated in a flat in Ahmedabad’s Bhopal area. On receiving the information, a team of police raided there. However, the policemen’s eyes were raised when they entered the 16th floor flat. They found several containers arranged with cannabis plants.
A neighbor said that the three arrested youths did not socialize much with anyone. As a result, no one could detect the drug ‘factory’ that was running inside the flat. All the accused are residents of Jharkhand.
According to the police, the three youths were cultivating ganja in the tub inside the flat. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the accused used to bring a particular type of chemical from Chennai. That chemical was used to make cannabis plants grow faster. Greenhouses were made and cannabis cultivation was going on.
The police also said that the recovered cannabis plants are of high quality. This type of cannabis is cultivated abroad. It is being investigated whether the arrestees are connected to any foreign drug trafficking ring. Also, efforts are on to find out where they used to supply cannabis and who bought it.
