The Election Commission (EC) has decided to use electronic voting machines in 150 constituencies in the upcoming parliamentary polls.
Ashok Kumar Debnath, additional secretary to the Election Commission (EC), confirmed the matter on Tuesday (August 23).
He said, considering opinions of all political parties, the EC took the decision.
In reply to a query he said, EVM can be used for maximum 150 seats and minimum 1 seat.
About the ability to use the EVM of EC, Ashok Kumar Debnath said that EC has the ability to use EVM in 70 to 75 seats. If the authority wants to use EVM in 150 seats then, more EVMs would be purchased.
