Gun and Drugs Investigation, Two men arrested, 26 charges laid, Drugs and firearm seized
Over the past several weeks members of Toronto Police Service 43 Division, with assistance from the Drug Squad, conducted an investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs in the Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East area.
As a result, on Saturday, July 17, 2021, two men were arrested and charged.
Akif Thakor, 20, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. Three counts of Traffic a Scheduled I Substance – Cocaine
2. Three counts of Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
3. Possession of Crack Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
4. Possession of Powder Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
5. Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
6. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under
He is next scheduled to appear in court, on September 2, 2021, at Old City Hall.
Sulaiman Sufi, 19, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. Possession of Crack Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
2. Possession of Powder Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
3. Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
4. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over
5. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
6. Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
7. Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
8. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
9. Careless Storage of a Firearm
10. Possession of a Prohibited Device
11. Three counts of Traffic a Scheduled I Substance – Cocaine
12. Three counts of Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
He is next scheduled to appear in court, on July 27, 2021, at 10 a.m., at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East.
During the arrest and subsequent investigation officers seized a large quantity of illicit drugs, a 9mm Springfields armory handgun and a quantity of ammunition.
