Halifax Area RCMP capture two men according to an attack and weapons offenses

Halifax Region RCMP has captured two men following an attack with a weapon that happened in Hubbards.

The Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a weaponized assault near Shore Club Rd this morning around one in the morning. in the Hubbards RCMP officials discovered that a man, who had been in a verbal squabble with a young and a lady in regards to elver fishing, was moved toward by a gathering of seven individuals. One of the group members then attacked the man with a pipe. During the assault, a second member of the group used a knife and a weapon made of conducted energy. Following that, the group left the area in three vehicles.

RCMP officials who were on course noticed the three vehicles on St. Margarets Straight Rd. and carried out the traffic stop. In connection with the assault, two men, both 45 years old and 48 years old, were taken into custody.

Examiners kept on social affair additional data and proof. Officers seized a conducted energy weapon and an unlocked shotgun during a vehicle search. After the vehicle was stopped, the occupants threw away a second loaded shotgun, which was later discovered on the road.

There are charges against the 45-year-old man for:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm;
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized;
  • Assault;
  • Assault with a Weapon.

The 48-year-old man is facing charges of:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm;
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

The two men were later granted conditional release and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at 10 a.m. on June 5, 2023. The investigation is still ongoing.
