IMF wants to know Bangladesh’s preparation to face challenges

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) showed interests to know about Bangladesh’s readiness to face the challenges that will have to face after transitioning from a least developed country to a developing country.

Besides, the agency also wanted to know what steps are being taken to reduce dependence on certain products to increase exports.

A visiting delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday (November 2) held a meeting at commerce ministry in the capital.

Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the commerce ministry joined the meeting with the five-member team of IMF.

As per schedule, the delegation will hold a series of meetings with concerned ministries, departments and organizations till November 9. Already the team joined meeting with financial division of the finance ministry, Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
