Miraz’s stunning innings helps Bangladesh thrilling win over India

Bangladesh have managed a nail-biting win beating India by just one wicket in the first ODI at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla national cricket stadium on Sunday (December 4).

In chasing 187 runs, Bangladesh lost their ninth wicket for 136 runs and needed 51 runs to win the game. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman formed an unbeaten 51-run partnership in the last wicket to clinch a thrilling victory for Tigers.

Miraz was unbeaten on 38 runs from 39 balls with four boundaries and two over boundaries and hit the winning run with 24 balls to spare while Mustafuzur Rahman gave a crucial support from the other end with 10 off 11.

Earlier, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has taken five wickets to restrict the visitors to 186 runs.

Shakib came to bowl in the 11th over of the innings and in his second delivery he bowled a superb arm ball to bowled India captain Rohit Sharma (27). It was a tossed up delivery on middle stump line and Rohit tried to defend it but it went through between the bat and pad to hit the timbers.

In the fourth ball of that over Shakib took another big wicket and this time it was Virat Kohli (9) as the right-hander drive the ball uppishly and Litton Das took a stunning one-handed catch at short cover diving to his right with full stretch.

Later Shakib also took the wickets of Washington Sundar (19), Shardul Thakur (2) and Deepak Chahar (0) to complete his five-wicket haul.

Shakib finished the innings with a bowling figure of 10-2-36-5.

Pacer Ebadot Hossian took four wickets conceding 47 runs from his 8.2 overs.

The other wicket was taken by off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz who broke the opening partnership of India removing Shikhar Dhawan (7) in sixth over.

KL Rahul was the top scorer for India as the right hander scored 73 off 70 deliveries with five fours and four sixes.

Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and elect to bowl first.
