The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted a charge sheet to the court against 7 people including former Superintendent of Police Babul Akhtar in the murder case filed over killing his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.
The PBI officials along with the investigating officer of the case submitted the charge sheet before the court on Tuesday afternoon.
PBI Inspector Abu Zafar Mohammad Omar Farooq, the investigating officer of the case, said that they have submitted the charge sheet against 7 people including Babul Akhtar in the prosecution wing of the court for Mitu’s murder.
Along with that, the documents related to the investigation of the case have been submitted to the court.
On June 5, 2016, Mitu was stabbed and shot dead while she was taking her son to the school bus stop in Chattogram city’s GEC intersection. After the murder, Babul filed a case against three unidentified men at Panchlaish Police Station.
Later, the case was taken over by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) from the Detective Branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
On May 12 last year, Mitu’s father filed a murder case against eight people, making Babul the prime accused in the case, alleging that he is the mastermind behind the murder. Mitu’s father also alleged that Babul killed his wife over an extra-marital affair.
