NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said NATO member states have agreed to spend 2 percent of their GDP on defense. He said this on Tuesday (July 11).
At the end of the first day of the NATO summit in Vilnius, he said, “11 allies have now reached or exceeded the minimum two percent spending benchmark.”
He also said, ‘We expect this number to increase significantly next year. Today, NATO allies have made a strong commitment to invest at least two percent of their annual gross domestic product in the defense sector.
