Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is returning to the country focusing on the upcoming elections in Pakistan. According to a source in his family, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader will return from London in mid-September. News from Jio News.
A member of Sharif’s family, who did not want to be named, said, “Nawaz will return from London after a month.”
He recently toured Europe and the Middle East. He returned to London last week after the tour. His family’s lawyers and political members have been advising him to return to Pakistan immediately for the past two months. PML-N members told him that the middle of next month would be the right time to return to Pakistan.
The source also said, “The former prime minister has taken the final decision to return to Pakistan in September after the last four years of exile.”
Nawaz Sharif left the country in November 2019 for medical treatment after being convicted of corruption. He is accused in several cases. He did not return for fear of facing trial. Shahbaz Sharif came to power after Imran Khan lost the prime ministership in a vote of no confidence in the parliament last year. Since then, rumors of Nawaz’s return to the country started in the country’s political circles.
In response to a question whether Nawaz will face any obstacles in his return to the country, Shahbaz Sharif recently said that he will face legal action.
