Nawaz Sharif will become the Prime Minister if he wins the election

If the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) returns to power in Pakistan’s upcoming elections, party supremo Nawaz Sharif will become the country’s prime minister.

In an event of Geo News on Sunday, Shahbaz Sharif said that the three-time former prime minister, who has been in exile in London since 2019, will return to the country in the next few weeks.

Nawaz Sharif was ousted due to the Panama Papers scandal. Later the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified him from public office. Then you have to go to jail. After being released on bail, he moved to London for treatment. Since then he has been in self-imposed exile in London.

Recently, the PML-N government has passed a law in the parliament making the term of disqualification of a member of parliament a maximum of 3 years.

As a result, there is no opportunity to disqualify Nawaz Sharif from any government post under this law. However, the cases against him can continue. Shahbaz Sharif has indicated that.

Incidentally, the term of the current National Assembly will expire on August 12 at 12 midnight. A report on the dissolution of Parliament will be sent to the President. After that, the power will pass to the caretaker government.
