Pele in palliative care after he stops responding to chemotherapy

Soccer icon Pele has been transferred to palliative care after doctors found out that he was no longer responding to the chemotherapy he was receiving to treat his bowel cancer.

He was hospitalized in Sao Paulo earlier this week for a reassessment of his colon tumor’s chemotherapy treatment, which he had been undergoing since September 2021. He was then diagnosed with a respiratory infection while he was in the hospital.

The Brazilian icon is still hospitalized while he is being treated for the infection. He has been moved to palliative, end-of-life care, to help him deal with his pain and shortness of breath, and to make him more comfortable.

Although chemotherapy is not positively affecting the King of the Beautiful Game anymore, he will reportedly not be subjected to invasive tests or treatment. _Agencies
