Prime Minister concludes successful visit with President of the Republic of Moldova

The State head, Justin Trudeau, On eleventh May met with Her Excellency Maia Sandu, Leader of the Republic of Moldova. The two leaders talked about security in Eastern Europe and the global repercussions of President Putin’s brutal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine.

The Top state leader emphasized Canada’s help for Moldova’s power and regional uprightness despite Russian hostility and weakening exercises – including disinformation, crossover strategies, obstruction, and the sponsorship of the breakaway locale of Transnistria.

The Head of the state lauded Moldova for opening its entryways and giving haven, security, and other compassionate help to north of 800,000 Ukrainians escaping the pulverization brought about by President Putin’s full-scale intrusion.

By announcing a new initiative that will assist in increasing the capacity of Moldova’s National Police to provide security, particularly in areas with a high number of refugees and migrants, Prime Minister Trudeau emphasized Canada’s support for Moldova. Through the Harmony and Adjustment Tasks Program (PSOPs), Canada is supporting a new $2 million, 18-month project in Moldova with the Worldwide Association for Movement (IOM). The task will assist with giving preparation, gear, and specialized help to the Public Police of Moldova and will be basic to their endeavors to address security issues in networks with expanded versatility.

The Prime Minister made the announcement that, in conjunction with the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs Canada and through the Technical Assistance Partnership, Canada will send Canadian judges to Moldova to share best practices that improve institutional capacity as well as judicial accountability and integrity.

In addition, Canada declared its intention to enact a brand-new set of regulations for sanctions under the Special Economic Measures Act in response to Russia’s barbaric, illegal invasion and occupation of Ukraine. Canada will be able to impose sanctions on individuals and related entities in Moldova who are systematically violating human rights, posing a threat to international peace and security, or engaging in significant corruption.

The Head of the state emphasized Canada’s help for Moldova’s homegrown institutional change endeavors and against defilement plan, as well as his help for Moldova’s way toward combination with the European Association.
