Samira reminisces Salman Shah: I still haven’t washed that skirt

Bangladesh’s one of the most popular filmstar Salman Shah is still remembered for his unique style of acting and fashion awareness. Moreover, his presence in the film meant — a guaranteed success, an overflowing crowd at the theatres. As a result, many artists and fans are still following this hero’s style and fashion.

As much as Salman was a romantic hero on screen, he was no exception in real life. Salman Shah fell in love with Samira Huq before stepping into films. Salman Shah first saw Samira on July 12, 1990, at a fashion show at Chittagong Club. At that time, Salman Shah told Samira Huq in the first meeting – “You will be my wife”.

After that, Salman Shah did many crazy things including writing letters with blood. Later, Salman Shah and Samira got married on December 20, 1992, with great fanfare. After marriage, they lived as a happy couple.

Salman Shah entered the film industry with the movie ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’. He reached the peak of fame by acting in 27 movies in just four years. Salman Shah died mysteriously on September 6, 1996, when his fame was at its peak. The tangle of mysteries behind his death is still not revealed.

Reminiscing on Salman Shah on his death anniversary, Samira Huq said she wore a skirt when Salman Shah died that day. Samira met Salman Shah in this dress for the last time. Samira did not wash that skirt till now to keep the memory of Salman Shah.

“I was wearing a skirt on September 6, 1996. I still haven’t washed that skirt that day. The memory of Emon (Salman Shah) is connected with this skirt. Eamon last saw me in this outfit,” Samira Huq said.

Salman Shah is still one of the most discussed people in the history of Bengali cinema even though he passed away 26 years ago.
