Spain Experiencing hottest temperature in history
The Europeans have been suffering from wildfire and extreme heat. Spain has already witnessed its hottest day on record. Northern parts of the country recorded a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius on Monday (July 18).
Warnings have been issued that the intensity of the heat will increase in France and the UK.
Meanwhile, the authorities have forced hundreds of thousands of people from France, Portugal, Spain, and Greece to evacuate their homes to safer places due to the wildfire. Besides, more than 1000 people died in Spain and Portugal due to intense heat.
Officials of the French national meteorological service said that temperatures in different areas of the country have started breaking records. The country’s western city of Nantes recorded a temperature of 42 degrees Celsius. 30,000 people have been evacuated and shelters have been set up due to the wildfire.
The most barren conditions are in the Gironde region of southwestern France. The fire that broke out last Tuesday has destroyed 17,000 hectares of land in the area so far (Monday). Firefighters are currently working to control the wildfire.
Jean-Luc Gleyze, president of the Gironde region, compared the wildfires to a terrifying beast. He said this (wildfire) is a monster like an octopus. It grows equally in front and back. Due to this the temperature increases.
Suffolk in East England recorded a temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius. This day was the hottest day in the country. Meteorologists have warned that the temperature may touch 41 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (July 19).
All flights at London Luton International Airport have been canceled due to extreme heat. At the same time, several train journeys have also been canceled.
On Monday, the Netherlands recorded its hottest day of the year so far. Westdorp a city in the southwest of the country recorded a temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius. Temperatures may exceed 39 degrees in southern and central parts of the country on Tuesday, a warning has been issued.
Meteorologists have warned that wildfires are likely to occur in Belgium and Germany in the coming days. It is feared that the temperature there may be 40 degrees.
