Finally, the country’s top housing businessman Srettha Thavisin is going to sit in the seat of the Prime Minister of Thailand. He won the majority of votes in the Parliament of Thailand. He was elected as the prime minister on Tuesday with the support of the majority of lawmakers in the country’s parliament.
This paved the way for the formation of a new coalition government in the country and ended nearly three months of political uncertainty and deadlock.
More than 374 legislators voted for Sretha Thavisin in Parliament. And he needed 374 votes to become the Prime Minister. The business tycoon has a majority in both houses of parliament.
Thavisin was the prime ministerial candidate from Pheu Thai Party. Through this, he is going to become the 30th Prime Minister of Thailand.
The vote in parliament came hours after Pheu Thai founder and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra returned to Thailand for the first time since 2008. However, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was sent to prison soon after his return from exile.
