The Thompson RCMP received a report on March 20, 2023, around 8:20 p.m., of several young people stealing items from businesses in the City Centre Mall in Thompson, Manitoba. Employees demanded that the youth leave and threatened them with bear spray. The youth then ran away.
At a different location, the kids tried to enter, but security stopped them and threatened them with knives. When the police arrived, they started a brief foot pursuit.
Five male youths, three aged 14, one aged 16, and one aged 13 were apprehended by officers. The suspects were apprehended with knives and brass knuckles among other weapons. The minors remain in custody until they appear in court.
The youths did not physically harm anyone.
