Following a commercial break-in and theft that took place just before midnight on June 8, 2023, two men, 46-year-old Keith White and 37-year-old Wade Smith, are facing a number of criminal charges.

On June 8, 2023, the Harbour Grace RCMP were called to Honda Town on Water Street in Carbonear after receiving multiple reports of a break-in. By breaking a window, the two suspects gained access to the business, stole a small dirt bike from inside, loaded it into the backseat of a vehicle, and then fled the scene.

The dirt bike, a red Honda CRF-50, was recovered and has since been returned to the business after police conducted a traffic stop in the Riverhead, Harbour Grace area.

White and Smith were detained without incident during the traffic stop. The two men are accused of breaking into a house, causing mischief, stealing less than $500, and possessing stolen property. Under the Highway Traffic Act, White was also charged with altering or defacing a license plate.

On June 9, 2023, both men appeared in court after being held in custody for the night.

This occurrence is the subsequent break and enter this week at this area. On June 5, 2023, just before 3 a.m., the suspects entered the business and stole a dirt bike of the same make and model. This bicycle has not yet been recuperated.

The investigation is still going on.
