Yukon RCMP seek public assistance in locating missing person Vaclav Jonas

Yukon RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Vaclav Jonas, who was reported missing on August 16, 2022. Mr. Jonas was last seen on the Nisutlin River approximately 200km from Teslin when the vessel he was in overturned and he was separated from his group.

Mr. Jonas speaks minimal English and is visiting the Yukon from the Czech Republic.

Description of Mr. Jonas:

  • Caucasian man
  • 73 years old
  • 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)
  • 200 lbs (90 kg)
  • white hair, short on the sides and worn in a ponytail
  • blue eyes

He was last seen wearing a black jacket and black pants.

Yukon Search and Rescue (YSAR) is engaged in the search, along with Tatshenshini Expediting, Capitol Helicopters, and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ottawa has also been updated on the ongoing investigation.
